Rabbit Run... Bunny Minding

What To Expect

Your bunny will be looked after as if they were our own. They will be housed inside and will have time out of their hutches during the day to play and explore. In fine weather the bunnies have supervised play time in their bunny tunnels in their own rabbit run in a bunny proof garden or porch. When the temperature reaches 25 degrees or more we always bring the bunnies inside so that they do not suffer from heat stress.

All of our facilities are temperature and air controlled. We run hospital grade air purifiers, air conditioning and heating. We are conscious of risks to the bunnies such as mosquitos, heat, stress and illness and have implemented practices to address these.

Our Hutches

We have adapted or built all of our indoor hutches as we have found that most commercial hutches are to small. The hutches all have hay and litter trays and have mats or preloved towels for the bunnies to relax in. Our bunnies love their hutches and often choose to stay in them to rest although the doors are always open. When they want company they come into the little patio areas.

Socialisation

All bunnies need to socialise with humans and/or their bunny companions. All of our carers spend quality time with the bunnies and when they are ready, they oblige with socialisation, pats and grooming.

Exercise

The bunnies get lots of time to exercise in the bunny play area inside or in the bunny proof garden in one of the rabbit runs, where they have their own garden gazebo or tunnel to rest in on a fine day.

Food

We will provide unlimited fresh hay, fresh greens, vegetables and fruit. (You will need to provide your own pellets if required by your bunny)

Health

Because bunnies are prey animals, they can hide illness. If your bunny shows signs of being unwell such as not eating, loose or no droppings and not moving around, and if they do not recover in a reasonable time, they will be taken to our bunny savvy vet. We can cater for special bunny health needs and administering of medications under veterinary advise.

Bunny Burrows

Bunnies are minded off site at Rabbit Run Bunny Burrows. Bunny Burrows is a network of bunny savvy carers who care for the bunnies in their own homes, under the training, guidance and care of Rabbit Run. The bunnies are all housed indoors as described above and have always been used at Rabbit Run. Judi & Bryce are on call 24 hours for our network of bunny carers.

If you would like to join our Bunny Burrows network to assist us to mind the bunnies please call us on (03) 9751 1229 or email us.
